OUR HOMES

Lilly House,
Southport.

A three-bed therapeutic residential home for children and young people aged 10–17. A real house on a real street. A place worth calling home.

ONE HOME, DONE WELL

We currently operate one home

New Path Care operates a single residential home. This is a deliberate choice. Before we open a second home, Lilly House must be operating to the standard we set for it. We are not building a chain. We are building something worth replicating.

LILLY HOUSE

A home in Birkdale, Southport

Lilly House is a three-bedroom detached property in a residential street in Birkdale, Southport. It is not set apart from the community. It looks like the houses on either side of it. That is intentional.

The home was fully refurbished before opening. Every bedroom was designed with input from young people. The communal spaces are warm, lived-in, and flexible. There is a garden. There is a proper kitchen. There is space to be together and space to be alone.

Birkdale sits in the Sefton local authority area and is within easy reach of Southport town centre, good schools, parks, sports facilities, and transport links to Liverpool and Manchester.

The home is registered with Ofsted (URN: 2824161) and received a rating of Good at its first inspection in December 2025.

We wanted it to feel like a house, not a unit. The children who live here should be able to invite a friend over without it feeling strange. That was the brief.

INSIDE THE HOME

What Lilly House looks and feels like

The ground floor has a large open kitchen and dining area, a sitting room with comfortable furniture and a TV, and a separate quiet room where young people can read, do homework, or decompress. Staff offices are discrete - present but not intrusive.

Each bedroom is single occupancy and was individually decorated before a child moved in. Young people are involved in choosing colours, furniture, and how their room is arranged. Their bedroom is their space.

The rear garden has a patio, seating, and a small lawn. We have a barbecue. There are bikes. It is an ordinary domestic garden, which is the point.

The home is fully accessible at ground floor level. We can discuss specific accessibility requirements prior to placement.

Three individual bedrooms. Each one decorated before a child arrives. Theirs to personalise, arrange, and make their own.

BEDROOMS

A room that belongs to them

Each bedroom at Lilly House is for one young person. There is no hot-desking of rooms, no “this is where you are for now”. When a child arrives, the room has been set up for them, with their input where possible.

Bedrooms are lockable. Young people can control who enters their space. Staff always knock. Privacy is taken seriously. These are not concessions - they are rights.

Children are encouraged to bring their own belongings, put things on walls, choose their bedding, and arrange their room as they want it. The room is theirs for the duration of their placement, and we treat it accordingly.

All bedrooms have reliable Wi-Fi, age-appropriate furniture, desk space, and adequate storage. Each has been individually designed rather than replicated from a template.

SCHOOLS & EDUCATION

Good schools, nearby

The home is well served by local schools. We work closely with each placement authority to identify the right educational setting for each child.

The home is within a short journey of several primary and secondary schools, including schools with specialist provision for children with SEMH needs and SEND. We have established relationships with local education providers and a track record of working with schools to ensure the right adjustments are in place.

For children not in school on arrival, we work with the virtual school head and the local authority to arrange appropriate education as quickly as possible. In the interim, we provide structured activities and learning at the home.

We are closely familiar with the PRU offer in Sefton and with independent specialist schools within commutable distance. We will discuss educational options with placing authorities as part of the referral process.

LOCAL AREA

Birkdale and Southport

Birkdale is a residential suburb of Southport, on the Lancashire coast. It is a quiet, safe area with good amenities within walking distance - parks, shops, cafes, sports facilities, and easy access to the beach and promenade.

Southport town centre is a short journey by bus or car. It has a good retail offer, leisure facilities, and a cinema. Liverpool city centre is around 45 minutes by train and is easily accessible for appointments, activities, and family contact.

The home is not isolated. Young people can walk to amenities independently when they are ready to do so. We actively support children to build knowledge of and connection to their local community as part of preparing for greater independence.
